Senshimo by Donna Palicka
Senshimo by Donna Palicka
Senshimo, created by Donna, is the eleventh installment in her acclaimed Capelet Collection. This piece draws inspiration from her two favorite Ito yarns: Sensai, a silk mohair, and Shimo, a wool-silk blend. The combination of Sensai and Shimo (hence the name Senshimo) when knitted together, produces a stunning marled color effect along with a delicate, silky drape. Senshimo is constructed in the round, from the top down, combining one strand of Sensai (mohair) with one strand of Shimo (silk/wool). Alternating rows of both yarns held together with rows of a single strand of Sensai create a subtle, sheer transition between sections. The design starts and finishes with ribbing, ensuring a snug fit at the neckline and a striking finish at the lower edge. Senshimo is simple and uses US 7 needles, making it approachable for those new to working with mohair or using double-stranding techniques. Buy the pattern here.
